קטע מאיגרת בערבית-יהודית, ובו דיווח על סכסוך קהילתי שהתרחש בראשית המאה השלוש-עשרה בתקופת כהונתו של הדיין ר' אליעזר באלכסנדריה. דרשן אורח ([...] בן עובדיהו) הגיע לקהילה וזכה לפופולריות עצומה, עד כדי כך שהדיין אליעזר ניסה להפסיק את דרשתו ויצא בסערה מבית הכנסת יחד עם חלק מן הקהל. רבנו אפרים התייצב לצדו של הדרשן האורח. אנשי אלכסנדריה כותבים בתמיכה באורח ומתלוננים על התנהגותו של הדיין המקומי. תחילת המכתב וסופו חסרים. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter fragment in Judaeo-Arabic. Conveying a report of a communal conflict which took place in the beginning of the thirteenth century, during the tenure of the judge (dayyan) R. Eliʿezer in Alexandria. A visiting preacher ([...] b. ʿOvadyahu) came to the community and won great popularity to the point that the judge Eliʿezer tried to interrupt his sermon and stormed out with a portion of the congregation. Rabbenu Efrayim came to the side of the visiting preacher. The Alexandrians are writing in support of the visitor, and complaining about the local dayyan's behaviour.
