מכתב, ככל הנראה ממנהיגי הקהילה היהודית באלכסנדריה אל אפרים בן שמריה בפוסטאט (פעיל בשנים 1007–1055 לסה"נ), המתאר את פדיונם של שני שבויים יהודים ואת היחס הנדיב שזכו לו מידי נתנאל הכהן, וכן את התפילות המיוחדות הנאמרות מדי שבת לכבודם של נתנאל ושל דוד בן יצחק הלוי על שום נדיבותם בעבר. בנוסף, המכתב פותח בסיפורה של ספינה השייכת לשודד הים המוסלמי ג'בארה בן מח'תאר. הספינה הפליגה מאנטליה (במערב אנטוליה) בכיוון מערב, אך עגנה ברמאדה (איפריקיה) ועל סיפונה עשרה שבויים יהודים שכספם נגזל ושהיה צורך לפדותם. תיארוך: המאה ה-11. המסמך צוטט בהרחבה במחקר. לפי פרנקל, השולח הוא ישועה בן יוסף, הדיין מאלכסנדריה. ראו גם מסמכים נוספים הקשורים אליו.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter probably from the leaders of the Jewish community in Alexandria to Efrayim b. Shemarya in Fusṭāṭ (fl. 1007–1055 CE), describing the ransoming and generous treatment of two Jewish captives by Netanʾel ha-Kohen, and the special prayers recited in honor of both Netanʾel and David b. Yiṣḥaq ha-Levi on every Sabbath on account of their past generosity. The letter also begins to narrate the tale of a ship belonging to the Muslim pirate Jabbāra b. Mukhtār. The ship set sail from Anṭalya (western Anatolia) heading west, but called in at Ramāda (Ifrīqiya) with ten Jewish captives whose money had been stolen and who needed to be ransomed.
