מכתב עסקי הממוען לחלפון בן נתנאל הלוי, הכתוב על גב הדף ובחזיתו כתובת הנמען. הכתיבה בכתב ערבי. תיארוך: לפני תחילת שנת 1136, שכן באותה עת יצא חלפון ממצרים למסעו למערב, וכאשר שב בשנת 1139 כבר היה אחיו (המוזכר כאן בברכה בכינוי "אלנאט'ר"/al-Nezer) בין המתים. המכתב עוסק בעסקים בסחורות כגון נושאדור (סל אמוניאק) וטורבד', ומזכיר כמה פעמים מכירה פומבית (ח'לקה). חלפון השתמש מאוחר יותר בצד החזית של הדף לטיוטה של מסמך משפטי (ראו רשומה נפרדת). חלק מהמידע מבוסס על קריאתו של עאודה, וקיים גם תיאור עברי מאת גויטיין ופרידמן ב-India Book IV.
Princeton Geniza Project description: IB ח98. Verso, with the address on recto: Business letter addressed to Ḥalfon b. Netanʾel ha-Levi. In Arabic script. Dating: Before the beginning of 1136 CE, as that is when Ḥalfon departed Egypt for the west, and when he returned in 1139 CE his brother (here greeted as النازر/al-Nezer) was already dead. Concerning business in goods such as sal ammoniac and turpeth, and mentions a public auction (ḥalqa) several times. (Information in part from Aodeh; see also Hebrew description from Goitein and Friedman, India Book IV.) Ḥalfon reused recto for a draft of a legal document (see separate record). This document was not part of Goitein's original list, but was identified as a Ḥalfon document by M. A. Friedman, who included it in India Book IV.
