מצד הרקטו: מכתב משתי הקהילות באלכסנדריה (נא-אמון), בראשות הדיין יוסף בן שלמה הכהן, אל הקהילה הירושלמית בפוסטאט בראשות אפרים בן שמריה. תיארוך: בקירוב 1031 לסה"נ, ובאופן רחב יותר בין השנים 1007–1055 לסה"נ, על פי תקופת פעילותו של אפרים בן שמריה. המכתב הוא בקשה דחופה לסיוע כספי לצורך פדיון יהודים מביזנטיון שנשבו בידי שודדי ים. במכתב מוזכרים ביקורו של בנו של הגאון, אברהם בן שלמה, כמו גם ברקה (קירניאקה, לחוף לוב), המלמד יהודה בן יצחק, ויהודה בן חיאן. בצד הוורסו מופיעה הכתובת, הכתובה בפרוזה מחורזת ומסתיימת בעלאמה — ברית שלום.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Recto: Letter from the two congregations of Alexandria (No-Amon), led by the judge Yosef b. Shelomo ha-Kohen, to the Jerusalemite congregation in Fustāt, led by Efrayim b. Shemarya. Dating: ca. 1031 CE and, in broad strokes, 1007–1055 CE based on the years when Efrayim b. Shemarya was active. Requesting urgent financial assistance for the ransoming of Byzantine Jews taken captive by pirates. The letter mentions the visit of the Gaʾon's son, Avraham b. Shelomo, and refers to Barqa (Cyrenaica, on the Libyan coast), the teacher Yehuda b. Yiṣḥaq, and Yehuda b. Ḥayyān.
