מכתב מחיים החבר בן שלמה/סלאמה בירושלים אל יצחק בן יעקב החבר בפסטאט, בעניין חוב המגיע ליצחק מאדם בשם ת'אבת, המתואר כשוהה הרחק מביתו ב"זע'ראר" (שורה 18 בצד הפנים) — שם שגיל מזהה בפרשנות יצירתית עם צוער שבבקעת הירדן. חיים בן שלמה השקיע מאמצים מרובים בגביית החוב, אך בסופו של דבר הצליח להשיג רק חמישה דינרים, מתוכם רק שניים דינרים שלמים והשאר רבעי-דינרים סיציליאניים, חלקם קצוצים. הוא מתאר זאת כ"לא סכום שעבורו מוציאים סֻפְתַּגַ'ה" (שטר העברה כספי) — אמירה מעניינת מנקודת המבט של הנהגים הפיננסיים בתקופה. כמו כן מביע חיים החבר בן שלמה זעזוע ממעשיו של אדם בשם עמראן המבזה את זכר הגאון שנפטר (לדעת גיל מדובר בשלמה בן יהודה; גיל מציין כי הדבר ממחיש שהחששות מהשמצה לאחר המוות היו מוצדקים). בצד האחורי (verso) מופיעים חשבונות של סכומי כסף גדולים מאוד, בכתב יד שגיל מזהה כשל ברהון בן מוסא אלתאהרתי, בן דודו של נהראי בן נסים. יש לציין כי במקבילה למסמך זה השלים גויטיין חלקים מן הטקסט על סמך מסמך נוסף העוסק באותו עניין.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Ḥayyim he-ḥaver b. Shelomo/Salāma, Jerusalem, to Yiṣḥaq b. Yaʿaqov he-ḥaver, Fustat, regarding a debt owed to the latter from someone named Thābit who is described as being away in Zughrar (r18), which Gil ingeniously interprets as Ṣoʿar in the Jordan Valley. Ḥayyim b. Shelomo has gone to great lengths to collect the debt, but in the end, all he got was five dinars, only two of them full dinars, the rest Sicilian quarter-dinars, some clipped. He describes it as "not the kind of sum for which one gets a suftaja," which is interesting from the point of view of financial practices. Ḥayyim he-ḥaver b. Shelomo also expresses horror at a certain ʿImrān who is deprecating the memory of the deceased gaʾon (Gil: Shelomo b. Yehuda; also Gil: goes to show that fears of being vilified after death were justified). On verso, accounts of very large sums of money in what Gil identifies as the hand of Barhūn b. Mūsā al-Tāhartī, the cousin of Nahray b. Nissim. (NB: The Goitein material scanned here covers DK 2, DK 333 and DK 11.
