מכתב שנשלח מאל-מחלה בידי אדם הנרדף על ידי המפקח על ההכנסות (controller of revenue), ובו הוא מבקש מידיד להשיג עבורו מכתב משמס אל-דין (מנהל ההכנסות בבירה) שיעיד שהוא רשום כנעדר. הכותב מתאר את מצוקתו במילים: "אל תשאל על מצבי — על המחלה, החולשה, המחסור והפחד הנורא מצו המפקח." Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter sent from al-Mahalla by a man who is sought by the controller of revenue, asking a friend to obtain for him a letter from Shams al-Din (the director of revenue in the capital), saying that he is registered as absent.
