מכתב אל אִיסוּ, האֵפַּרכוס (המושל) הנובי בעיר אִבְּרים, מאת אַל-חֻסַיְן בן מֻחַמַּד [...] בן נַצְר [...]. השולח מדווח כי בִּשְׁר, עבדו של האֵפַּרכוס, הגיע אליו בדיוק ברגע שהוא עצמו עמד לצאת לדרכו לנוביה. בִּשְׁר הביא עמו שלושה דינרים, שבהם — כך נראה — הורה האֵפַּרכוס לרכוש בּיטוּמֶן (חֵמָר/זפת). השולח דאג להזמין את הביטומן לפני יציאתו לנוביה. בהמשך נצטווה בִּשְׁר לקנות גם שני נאדות מים, שישמשו לאחסון הביטומן. אַל-חֻסַיְן מעיד כי וידא שהביטומן הועלה אל הספינה לפני שהפליג. הוא מתנצל על כך שאינו יכול לשלוח מזומנים יחד עם המכתב, מאחר שהוא כותב את שורותיו מדנדור ולא מאסואן.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter to the Nubian eparch Īsū in Ibrīm from Al-Ḥusayn ibn Muḥammad [ ] ibn Naṣr [ ]. The sender reports that the eparch's slave Bishr arrived just as the sender himself was leaving for Nubia. Bishr had brought three dīnārs with which it seems the eparch had instructed him to acquire bitumen. The sender arranged for the bitumen to be purchased before leaving for Nubia. Subsequently Bishr was also instructed to purchase two water skins in which to store the bitumen. Al-Ḥusayn ensured that the bitumen was loaded onto the ship before his departure. He apologizes that since he is writing from Dendur rather than Aswan, he is unable to send cash with this letter. PG. Khan, Qaṣr Ibrīm, doc. 20.
