מכתב מאת מחמד בן רמצ'אן, העולה לרגל, אל האפרכוס הנובי אורוי באבּרים. מטרת המכתב היא לעדכן את אורוי בעניינים עסקיים שונים. מחמד מזכיר משלוח סחורה (מתאג'ר) שאורוי ביקש, ומציין כי שלח מישהו לקוץ כדי לרכוש אותו, מאחר שהפריטים לא היו זמינים במקום קרוב יותר אליו. הוא מדווח שאל-מכארם טרם הגיע, ולכן אין הוא יודע איזו סחורה עלה בידו להשיג. כתוצאה מכך אין ברשותו גם בשמים שיוכל לשלוח לאורוי בשלב זה. הוא מסביר כי לא יכול היה לכתוב מוקדם יותר משום שיצא להיפרד מן האמיר כנז אל-דולה. עם נושא המכתב שלח מחמד תשלום (חק עין): "רטל של חומץ ואוקיה של נרד לסוכנת הבית" (צאחבת אל-דאר). קודם לכן שלח שתי אוקיות של שורשי נסקפתון (בנאכּ).

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Muḥammad ibn Ramaḍān, the pilgrim, to the Nubian eparch Uruwī in Ibrīm. The purpose of the letter is to update Uruwī on various business matters. Muḥammad mentions a trade consignment (matājir) that Uruwī requested, and says he has sent someone to Qūṣ to buy it because the items were not available closer to him. He reports that al-Makārim has not arrived yet, so he does not know what merchandise he has managed to find. As a result, he also has no perfumes to send at the moment to Uruwī. He explains that he himself could not write sooner because he had gone to bid farewell to the amīr Kanz al-Dawla. With the bearer of the letter, Muḥammad has sent a payment (ḥaqq ʿayn): "a raṭl of vinegar and an ounce of spikenard for the housekeeper" (ṣāḥibat al-dār).
