Princeton Geniza Project description: Karaite betrothal deed. Dated 25 Sivan 5556 AM (1796 CE). The groom Moshe ha-Kohen taking upon himself not to marry another wife for 20 years, but if his future wife Marḥaba bt. Yosef will become childless he can take another wife after 10 years. She is also allowed to go out and visit her relatives but should ask his permission to do so. Because Marḥaba's father is deceased her cousin, Yequtiʾel ha-Ḥazan, serves as her legal representative during the marriage arrangments.
