מכתב מיוסף בן אברהים המופנה אל 'הרב הגדול', אדם הקרוב לנגיד. בערבית יהודית עם הכתובת בחלקה בכתב ערבי. עוסק כולו בפוליטיקה קהילתית. השולח מבקש טובה ומתייחס שוב ושוב ל'נובה' (שיעור פומבי? שמש כנציג?) של מליג'. מזכיר אנשים כגון אבו אל-חסן התלמיד; החזן צדקה הלוי; החזן אבן נופיע (שני האחרונים הם כנראה אותו אדם). בשוליים העליונים מתייחס ל'אבן אל-מנג'ים שהוא עני מרוד וחסר כל' ולא שילם את מס הגולגולת שלו (ח'ראג'); ייתכן שזהו החזן ת'אבת אבן אל-מנג'ים הידוע ממספר מסמכים אחרים כעני ואשר בשלב מסוים נכלא בשל אי תשלום מס הגולגולת שלו (ראו CUL Or.1081 J61 (PGPID 8959) ופרגמנטים קשורים). דרוש בדיקה נוספת.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Yūsuf b. Ibrāhīm addressed to 'ha-Rav ha-Gadol,' someone close to the Nagid. In Judaeo-Arabic with the address partially in Arabic script. Dealing entirely with communal politics. The sender is asking a favor and repeatedly refers to the "nawba" (public lesson? serving as a representative?) of Malīj. Mentions people such as Abū l-Ḥasan the Talmid; the cantor Ṣadaqa ha-Levi; the cantor Ibn Nufayʿ (these last two are probably the same person). In the upper margin refers to "Ibn al-Munajjim who is dead poor and broke" and hasn't paid his capitation tax (kharāj); this may be the cantor Thābit Ibn al-Munajjim who is known from several other documents to have been poor and at one point imprisoned for not paying his capitation tax (see CUL Or.1081 J61 (PGPID 8959) and related fragments). Needs further examination.
