דף 2: העתק של מסמך מתאריך ג'ומאדא א' 589 לה'ג'רה (מאי-יוני 1193) הממנה את אבו אלמעאלי עבדאללה בן אבו אלרצ'אע בן פרח', הידוע בשמו היהודי עובדיה בן עולה, למנהיג היהודים בסוריה. המסמך הוצא על ידי בית הדין של אלמלכ אלאפצ'ל עלי, בנו הבכור של צלאח אלדין. המסמך משבח את עובדיה וקובע כי הוא ישמש כראש הרבניים, הקראים והשומרונים באזור דמשק. בצד הפנים (דף 2r) מופיעים גם תרגילי כתיבה בעברית. Princeton Geniza Project description: Fol. 2: Copy of a document dated Jumādā I, 589 AH (= May-June 1193 CE) appointing Abū l-Maʿālī ʿAbdallāh b. Abū l-Riḍāʿ b. Faraḥ, who is known by his Jewish name ʿOvadya b. ʿUlla, as the Jewish leader in Syria issued by the court of al-Malik al-Afḍal ʿAlī (the eldest son of Saladin). The document praises ʿOvadya and states that ʿOvadya will be the head of Rabbanites, Qaraites and Samaritans in the Damascus area. On recto (fol. 2r) there are also Hebrew writing exercises.
