קטע משפטי בכתב ידו של חלפון בן מנשה (1100–1138). העניין נסוב סביב אירוסין; מינוי מיופה כוח, חלפון הלוי; אמה של הכלה, עשירה בת אברהם; האם מעניקה לבתה 6 מתוך 12 חלקיה בבית באלממצוצה; ותנאי המחייב את החתן שלא לארח חתונות "או לעשות דבר מן הקישוטים (?, זח'רפאת) של אנשי מצרים/הקהירים". המסמך כולל גם תנאי נסיעה המחייב את הבעל לכתוב גט על תנאי בטרם ייצא למסע מסחרי ל"תימן ולמקומות הרחוקים". על פי כרטיס המפתח של גויטיין התאריך הוא סיוון 1121, אך נראה שהתאריך עצמו לא השתמר במסמך. בצד האחורי (verso) מופיעות מספר מילים ממסמך מדינה ערבי — אחד המקרים הנדירים (אם לא היחיד) של שימוש חוזר במסמך מדינה אצל חלפון בן מנשה. צירוף: אלן אלבאום.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Legal fragment. In the hand of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe (1100–38 CE). Involving a betrothal (erusin); the appointing of a representative, Ḥalfon ha-Levi; the mother of the bride, ʿAshīra bt. Avraham; the mother giving 6 out of her 12 shares in a house in al-Mamṣūṣa to her daughter; the condition that the groom not host weddings "or do anything from the ornaments (? zakhrafāt) of the Egyptians/Cairenes." Includes a travel condition which forces the husband to write a conditional bill of divorce before he goes to a business trip to 'Yemen and the far away places'. Goitein's index card says that the date is Sivan 1121 CE, but the date does not appear to be preserved. On verso there are a few words from an Arabic state document, one of Ḥalfon b. Menashshe's rare reuses (or is it unique?) of a state document. Join: Alan Elbaum.
