איגרת מלשכתו של ראש היהודים יהושע בן אברהם מימוני (נולד 1310 – נפטר 1355), המזהירה מפני מטיף נודד שזכה לפופולריות בקרב הקהילה. לפי האיגרת, האיש "מדבר בסודות שאינו מבין את משמעותם, כתוכי המדבר ואינו יודע מה הוא אומר. ויתרה מזאת, אינו יודע מה אסור ומה מותר". גויטיין סבור שמדובר במטיף יהודי בעל נטיות סופיות, שהשפעתו בתקופה זו ניכרת גם באיגרת הידועה שפורסמה תחת הכותרת "יהודי שוטה לסופיות בימי דוד השני מימוני". קיים גם עותק או טיוטה של אותה איגרת.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from the office of Yehoshua Maimonides (b. 1310–d. 1355) warning against a traveling preacher, popular in the community, who "speaks of secrets whose meanings he does not understand, like a parrot who speaks and does not know what he says. Moreover, he does not know what is forbidden and what is permissible." Goitein suggests that the reference is to a Jewish preacher with Sufi inclinations, whose influence at this time is also evident in the well known letter published as "A Jewish Addict to Sufism in the time of David II Maimonides."
