מכתב מיהודה בן משה אבן סִגְ'מאר, השוהה באלכסנדריה, אל עלי הכהן בן יחיא (המכונה גם חיים) הפרנס, בפוסטאט. יהודה מתאר את הקשיים שנקלע אליהם בניסיונותיו לגבות כספים המגיעים לו מ"שותף" בשם אבו אסחאק אברהם בן פרג' אלרחבי, בנוגע למכירת חתיכת ענבר (עַנְבַּר) יקרת ערך. נודע ליהודה כי אבו אסחאק נמצא כעת בפוסטאט, אך הוא עצמו אינו יכול להגיע אליו פנים אל פנים בשל מחלת עיניים שממנה הוא סובל (מצוין בגב הכתב, בשוליים, שורות 1–2). על כן הוא מבקש מעלי שייצג אותו בהתדיינות המשפטית מול אותו אדם, וצירף למכתבו ייפוי כוח לצורך זה. ראו גם את ייפוי הכוח מתוארך לשנת 1085, שפורסם בשני המקורות הנזכרים, וכן את כרטיס ההערות של גויטיין מס' 27115.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Yehuda b. Moshe ibn Sighmār, in Alexandria, to ʿEli ha-Kohen b. Yaḥyā (aka Ḥayyim) the parnas, in Fustat. Yehuda explains the problems he has been having collecting monies owed him by a 'partner,' Abū Isḥāq Avraham b. Faraj al-Raḥbī, having to do with the sale of a valuable piece of ambergris. He has heard that Abū Isḥāq is now in Fustat, but he cannot come in person due to an eye disease (recto, margin, ll. 1–2). He requests that ʿEli represent him in litigation against that person.
