מכתב מאת מצ'מון בן חסן, באדן, אל אברהם אבן יג'ו. התיווך: בסביבות 1135 לספירה. קיימים שרידים של ארבעה או חמישה העתקים שונים של המכתב הזה. הקטע הנוכחי מסומן כ"העתק 3". כאן הסופר הכין גרסה שנייה של המכתב, הכוללת את הנספחים (postscripts) של מצ'מון מתוך העתק 2. ההעתקים השונים של המכתב הם כדלקמן: - העתק 1 (המקור בכתב ידו של מצ'מון עצמו): על גבו של העתק זה רשומים חשבונות בכתב ידו של אבן יג'ו. - העתק 2 (ההעתק הראשון מאת הסופר/הלבלר). - העתק 3 (ההעתק השני מאת הסופר/הלבלר): הוא הקטע הנוכחי. - העתקים 4 ו-5 (לא ברור מי מעתיקיהם). העתקים 1–3 זוהו ופורסמו בידי גויטיין ופרידמן (2008) ב-India Traders. העתקים 4–5, וכן צירוף ישיר נוסף להעתק 3, התגלו בשנת 2023.
Princeton Geniza Project description: IB II, 21 + 21c. Letter from Maḍmūn b. Ḥasan, in Aden, to Avraham Ibn Yiju. Dating: ca. 1135 CE. Fragments of four or five different copies of this letter exist. This fragment is labeled as Copy 3. Here the scribe has prepared a second version of the letter that includes Maḍmūn's postscripts from Copy 2. The copies of the letter are as follows: Copy 1 (the original by Maḍmūn): IB II, 22 (T-S NS J240r), II, 22a (Moss. IV,21.1), and II, 23 (T-S 20.137r). PGPID 5448. The verso of this copy has accounts written by Ibn Yijū (PGPID 5537). Copy 2 (first copy by the clerk): IB II, 24 (T-S NS J1). PGPID 5479. Copy 3 (second copy by the clerk): IB II, 21 (T-S NS J241) and II, 21c (T-S AS 158.393); i.e. this page. Copies 4 [by?] and 5 [by?]: IB II, 21a (JRL Series B 4089) and II, 21b (T-S AS 151.222). PGPID 5233 Copies 1-3 were identified and published in Goitein and Friedman (2008), India Traders. Copies 4-5, as well as a direct join (IB II, 21c) for Copy 3, were found by ASE in 2023.
