מכתב מאפרים בן יעקב אל אבו סולימאן דאוד בן אסחאק ואל אבו סעיד [...] בן דונש. בערבית-יהודית. אדם בשם אבן אלקאביסי, שהוחרם מן הקהילה היהודית בארבע ערים שונות בחצי האי האיברי (גרנדה, לוסנה, קורדובה וסביליה), הגיע לאלכסנדריה, וקרוביו שבעיר דורשים מן הדיין המקומי להחיל גם הוא את החרם נגדו. הדיין מהסס לעשות זאת, משום שנמסר לו שהאיש איים להתאסלם (יפשע) אם יוחרם שוב. הדיין (ככל הנראה שלה בן מבשר) פנה אל מצליח גאון (כיהן בשנים 1127–1139) בפוסטאט וביקשו להטיל את החרם על אבן אלקאביסי. כותב המכתב מבקש מקרובים אחרים למהר ולאסוף ראיות מפלילות נוספות נגד הבא החדש, כדי שניתן יהיה להכריז על החרם. בנוסף מוזכרים אבן ג'ראח, אבן אלג'זאר; בית של חתונה; ורבנו רפיא(?) המנוח. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Efrayim b. Yaʿaqov to Abū Sulaymān Dāʾūd b. Isḥāq and Abū Saʿīd [...] b. Dunash. In Judaeo-Arabic. A man named Ibn al-Qābisī, who was banned from the Jewish community in four different cities in Iberia (Granada, Lucena, Cordoba, and Seville), arrived in Alexandria, and his relatives in the city demand that the local judge also apply the ban against him; the judge hesitates to do so, since he was informed that the man had threatened to embrace Islam (יפשע) if he was excommunicated again. The judge (probably Shela b. Mevasser) turned to Masliaḥ Gaʾon (r. 1127–39), in Fustat and asked him to place the ban on Ibn al-Qābisī. The writer of the letter asks other relatives to hurry and collect incriminating evidence again the newcomer so that the ban can be declared. Additionally mentions Ibn Jarrāḥ, Ibn al-Jazzār; the house of a wedding; the late Rabbenu רפיא(?). (Information mainly from Frenkel.) Join: Alan Elbaum.
