מכתב מאת הקאדי הבת אללה בן מכין, מאל-מראע'ה, אל "אחיו" אבו אל-חסן זהיר. המכתב עוסק בפרשתה של מרים בת יוחנס הנובית (שמה אינו מוזכר כאן אך ידוע ממסמכים קודמים), בעלה החדש מריאנה, ובעלה הקודם קירקה. הבעל לשעבר גירש אותה מבית בעלה החדש, בטענה שהיא עדיין נשואה לו. שולח המכתב הוא זה שכתב במקור הן את שטר הגירושין שלה מקירקה והן את שטר הנישואין שלה עם מריאנה. מריאנה הוא נושא המכתב. הוא כבר פנה קודם לכן לקאדי של אח'מים בעניין הפרשה. הנמען מתבקש לעצור את קירקה ולשלוח אותו חזרה אל הכותב יחד עם מרים ומריאנה, כדי שיוכל "לפעול עמם בהתאם לדרישות הדין". קריאות חלופיות: - שורה 5: سنة במקום سنته (אותה משמעות). - שורה 10: مقرونا ("עם" או "ביחד עם") במקום تقرونا; השוו למקבילה במסמך אחר, שורה 20. מאחר שמילה זו היא המשך ישיר של הביטוי הפותח بجواب كتابي هذا, סביר שיש לשבץ את התוספת הבין-שורתית لاعمل معهم ما يقتضيه الحق בין המילים صداقها ו-وتكاتبني. - שורה rm2: המילה החסרה دار ("מתחם" או "חצר") נוספה לתעתיק ולתרגום.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from the judge (qāḍī) Hibat Allāh b. Makīn, in al-Marāgha, to his "brother" Abū l-Ḥasan Zuhayr. Concerning the case of Maryam bt. Yuḥannis the Nubian woman (not named here but known from the preceding documents), her new husband Mariane, and her ex-husband Qērqe. The ex-husband had driven her out of her new husband's home, claiming that she was still married to him. The sender of the letter is the one who originally wrote both her divorce contract from Qērqe and her wedding contract with Mariane. Mariane is the bearer of this letter. He had previously approached the judge of Akhmīm concerning this affair. The addressee is asked to detain Qērqe and send him back to the writer together with Maryam and Mariane so that he can "act with them according to the requirements of the law." Alternate readings (ASE): - r5: سنة in place of سنته (same meaning). - r10: مقرونا ("with" or "together with") in place of تقرونا; cf. ENA NS 63.9 (PGPID 11405), l. 20. Since this word is the direct continuation of the phrase beginning بجواب كتابي هذا, the interlinear insertion لاعمل معهم ما يقتضيه الحق should likely be inserted between صداقها and وتكاتبني. - rm2: The missing word دار ("compound") has been added to the transcription and translation below.
