מכתב אל אפרכוס נובי בקצר אבּרים מאת אבו מנצור מחמד, בנו של המפקד הנאמן "סהר השושלת" (הלאל אלדולה), הזקן "אוצר הדת" (כּנז אלדין). תאריו הנוספים של אבו מנצור הם "מנצח הדת" ו"חרב אמיר המאמינים". כפי הנראה התלונן האפרכוס על כך שהאוניות הנושאות סוסים טרם נשלחו במעלה הנילוס. השולח כותב כי קיבל הוראה מן הסולטאן באמצעות המושל (באסואן?) לעכב את משלוח הסוסים עד אשר ישלימו השליחים (ע'לאם) של השולח ושל הסולטאן את דרכם אל המלך. למעשה הסוסים לא ישוחררו עד שובם של שליחים אלה מאצל המלך, ולכן הוא מפציר במלך שלא לעכבם ולו ביום אחד. אבו מנצור מזכיר גם שני אנשים נוספים (ג'ג'רי וכּבּאן) שידברו עם האפרכוס על "מה שראו". כּבּאן אף ביקר אצל מושל קוץ וידווח לאפרכוס "פנים אל פנים על מה שחזה". באמצעות עבדו יחיא שולח השולח לאפרכוס סוסה משובחת כמתנה, אולי כפיצוי על עיכוב משלוח הסוסים.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter to a Nubian eparch in Ibrīm from Abū Manṣūr Muḥammad, son of the sincere commander Crescent of the Dynasty (Hilāl al-Dawla), the elder Treasure of the Religion (Kanz al-Dīn). Abū Manṣūr's other titles are Victor of the Religion, and Sword of the Commander of the Faithful. The eparch has apparently complained that the ships bearing horses have not yet been sent upriver. The sender writes that he received an order from the sultan via the governor (at Aswan?) to halt the shipment of horses until the messengers (ghulām) of the sender and the sultan have reached the king. Indeed the horses will not be released until these messengers have returned from the king, so he urges the king not to delay them for a single day. Abū Manṣūr also mentions two other men (Jajrī and Kabān) who will speak with the eparch about "what they have seen." Kabān has also visited the governor of Qūṣ and will report to the eparch "in person what he witnessed." Through his slave Yaḥyā, the sender sends the eparch a fine mare as a gift, perhaps as consolation for the halted shipment of horses. PG Khan, Qaṣr Ibrīm, doc. 22
