רשומת לידה. בעמוד האחרון של עותק של ספר כסוי המילים על-ידי חכם קראי מהמאה ה-11 ישועה בן יהודה. תאריך: 6 בנובמבר 1188 לספירה. בן, דוד הלוי, נולד לאלעזר בן חלפון בן נחמאל הלוי, כנראה בקהילה קראית גולה. תאריך לידת הילד מצוין כמסופק, כנראה עקב סיבוכים בלוח הקראי האמפירי שדרש מידע ממקור ראשון על מצב קציר השעורה בארץ-ישראל לצורך ודאות לגבי החודש.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Birth record. On the final page of a copy of copy of Kitāb al-Tawriyyah, the Book of Covert Ambiguity, by the 11th-century Qaraite scholar Jeshuʿah b. Judah. Dating: 6 November, 1188 CE. A son, David ha-Levi, was born to Elʿazar b. Ḥalfon b. Neḥamʾel ha-Levi, presumably in a diasporic Qaraite community. The child's birth date is noted to be in doubt, likely due to complications of the empirical Qaraite calendar, which required first-hand information on the state of the barley harvest in Palestine to be certain of the month.
