הסכם חניכוּת בין דוד דיין (המאסטר המכשיר) לבין חניך ששמו הפרטי ניזוק קשות, אך ניתן להסיק ששם משפחתו הוא קארו על סמך אזכור אביו בשורה 14 — שם הוא מתחייב לשלם קנס במקרה שבנו יפר את תנאי החניכות ויסרב לשלם את הקנס בעצמו. ההסכם מתוארך לסוף חודש אדר ה'תקפ"ב, היינו 1822 לספירה, ונערך בקהיר. בשורה 2 מוגדרת החניכות כ"מלאכת הנוצה", ובהמשך המסמך מופיע סעיף המבהיר שמדובר במקצוע מסחרי ("במלאכה אצל הסוחרים"). מאיר בן-נעים חתם הן כעד/סופר והן בשם "האב והבן הנזכרים לעיל". כמו בחוזי חניכות אחרים מראשית המאה ה-19, גם הסכם זה כולל סעיפים בדבר שכרו של החניך, אך הפרטים המדויקים אינם ברורים בשל קרעים ודהיית דיו במסמך.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Apprenticeship agreement between David Dayyan (the instructor) and an apprentice whose name is badly damaged but his surname can be inferred as Karo because his father is mentioned in line 14–where he commits to paying a fine in the event that his son breaks the terms of the apprenticeship and reneges on paying the fine himself. Dated at the end of Adar 5582 AM which is 1822 CE. Location: Cairo. The apprenticeship is listed in line 2 as the "feather trade" (מלאכת הנוצה), then later in the document there is a clause specifying that this is a mercantile profession (במלאכה אצל הסוחרים). Meʾīr Ben-Naʿīm signed as both witness/scribe and also signed on behalf of the "aforementioned father and son." Like other apprenticeship contracts from the early 1800s this one includes provisions for the apprentice's wages (שכר) but the exact details are unclear due to tearing and ink discoloration on the document.
