רקטו: מסמך ממשלתי הפותח במילים: هذا كتاب من عبد الله ووليه الامام المنصور ابي علي الآمر باحكام الله امير المؤمنين صلوات الله عليه وعلى ابآئه الطاهرين وابنائه الائمة المطهرين من يد عبده الشيخ ابي علي الحسين بن عبد الله بن وهب ضامن تنيس واعمالها ان سهل بن يحيى يهودي طاري. במילים אחרות: "זהו מסמך של הח'ליפה אל-אאמר באחכאם אללה (שלט בשנים 1101–1130), {הוצא} בידי עבדו אבו עלי בן אל-חסין בן עבדאללה בן והב, אלצ'אמן (חוכר המסים) של תניס ופלכיה, {המאשר} כי סהל בן יחיא הוא יהודי 'מהגר חדש' (טארי)." (סהל בן יחיא נזכר גם במסמך נוסף; ייתכן שמדובר באותו אדם.) שאלת מעמדו של אדם כמהגר חדש (טארי) קבעה את גובה תשלומי מס הגולגולת שלו. השוו למסמכים נוספים שאולי רומזים לסוגה זו של מסמכים. הקטע בתחתית קשה לקריאה, אך הוא כולל תאריך ומסתיים בחמדלה (ברכת השבח לאל) בשורה האחרונה. ורסו: מסמך ממשלתי לא מזוהה בכתב ערבי. נראה כי מדובר בקבלה כלשהי, אולי על תשלום מס הגולגולת של אותו סהל בן יחיא, אם כי שמו אינו מופיע, ואף לא המילה 'ג'זיה'. הפתיחה: صح ذلك في التواريخ المبينة لشهور سنة خمس وخمسمائة, שממנה אפשר ללמוד את התאריך (שנת 505 להג'רה), והיא רומזת (בשל המילים 'דאלכ' ו'אלמביינה') כי המסמך מתייחס למסמך שבצדו השני. תחת זאת מצוין הסכום: "אלמבלג': דינר אחד". בראש הדף ואולי גם בשוליים הימניים נראים סימני רישום (עלאאם). זקוק לבדיקה נוספת.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Recto: State document beginning as follows: هذا كتاب من عبد الله ووليه الامام المنصور ابي علي الآمر باحكام الله امير المؤمنين صلوات الله عليه وعلى ابآئه الطاهرين وابنائه الائمة المطهرين من يد عبده الشيخ ابي علي الحسين بن عبد الله بن وهب ضامن تنيس واعمالها ان سهل بن يحيى يهودي طاري. To paraphrase, "This is a document of the caliph al-Āmir bi-Aḥkām Allāh (r. 1101–30) {issued} by his slave Abū ʿAlī b. al-Ḥusayn b. ʿAbdallāh b. Wahb the ḍāmin of Tinnīs and its districts, {certifying} that Sahl b. Yaḥyā is a Jewish 'newcomer.'" (There is also a Sahl b. Yaḥyā mentioned in DK 232.4; could be the same person.) The question of a person's newcomer (ṭārī) status determined how much they owed for the capitation tax. Cf. T-S NS J3 (PGPID 8701) and T-S Ar.41.109 (PGPID 8288), which may allude to this genre of document. The section at the bottom is difficult to read but gives a date and ends with a ḥamdala in the bottom line. ASE Verso: Unidentified state document in Arabic script. Receipt of some sort, perhaps for the capitation tax of the same Sahl b. Yaḥyā, however his name does not appear nor does the word 'jizya.' Begins: صح ذلك في التواريخ المبينة لشهور سنة خمس وخمسمائة, which gives us the date (505 AH) and suggests (because of the 'dhālika' and 'al-mubayyana') that this document is referring back to the document on the other side. Underneath, "the amount: 1 dinar." At the top and perhaps the right margin there are registration marks / ʿalāʾim. Needs further examination.
