תיאור

צוואה בעברית, כתובה ביד מהודרת ומרשימה. המקום אינו ידוע. מתוארכת ליום ראשון, י"ח בחשוון א'שי"ח למניין השטרות = 13 באוקטובר 1006. בצוואה זו אדם עשיר בשם מצליח בן אלחסן, המוכר בכינויו אבן אלצ'באב, מעניק לאשתו השנייה ואם שלושה מילדיו, רחל, סכום של 200 דינרים בתנאי שלא תינשא בשנית, ורק 50 דינרים אם תינשא שוב. כמו כן הוא מסמיך את בנו הבכור מנישואיו הראשונים, שמריה, להעביר לאחיו הצעיר אבו אלסרי יפת את חלקו בעיזבון רק כאשר הוא, כמוציא לפועל של הצוואה — ולא בתי הדין — ישתכנע שהנער מוכן לקבל אחריות זו. שמריה מופקד גם על הטיפול בשתי אחיותיו ג'מיל וקורת אלעין. בשורה התחתונה ששרדה במסמך מוזכר אדם בשם אבו מימון והב בן סקיר, המופיע גם במסמך אחר.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Will in Hebrew, magnificently written. Location: unknown. Dated: Sunday, 18 Ḥeshvan 1318 Seleucid = 13 October 1006 CE. In which a rich man, Maṣliaḥ b. al-Ḥasan known as Ibn al-Ḍabāb, gives his second wife and the mother of three of his children, Raḥel, 200 dinars if she does not marry again, but only 50 dinars if she does get married. He also empowers the elder son from his first marriage, Shemarya, to give his younger brother Abū l-Surrī Yefet his share in the estate only when he, the executor--not the courts-- is satisfied that the boy is ready for the responsibility. Shemarya is also to look after his two sisters Jamīl and Qurrat al-ʿAyn. In the bottom preserved line of the document, mentions a man named Abū Maymūn Wahb b.
