מכתב מיהודה בן אברהם בן אלפרג', ככל הנראה בצהרג'ת, אל עלי בן עמרם (המכונה גם אבו אלחסן עלון בן מעמר), בפוסטאט. התיארוך: שנות ה-60 של המאה ה-11 לספירה בקירוב. המכתב כתוב ערבית, למעט ביטוי אחד בעברית, ובצירוף תוספות בעברית. מטרת המכתב היא לצרף את הפיוט העברי "יעלת יערות". הטקסט העברי בעבר השני של המכתב נראה כהקדמה מפוארת לפיוט, ובה דברי שבח גדושים לעלי בן עמרם. הפיוט עצמו נמצא בקטע נפרד. קטעים קרובים: מכתב נוסף מאותו שולח ואל אותו נמען, אף הוא בתערובת של ערבית ועברית, ובו המלצה על סעדיה המלמד; וכן מסמך משפטי שערך אותו יהודה בן אברהם, שהיה ככל הנראה המוקדם של העיר צהרג'ת בשנת 1060 לספירה.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Yehuda b. Avraham b. al-Faraj, possibly in Ṣahrajt, to ʿEli b. ʿAmram (aka Abū l-Ḥasan ʿAllūn b. Muʿammar), in Fustat. Dating: ca. 1060s CE. The letter is in Arabic, with one phrase in Hebrew and with addenda in Hebrew. The purpose of the letter is to enclose the Hebrew poem "Doe of the Woods" (יעלת יערות). The text in Hebrew on the verso of the letter appears to be an elaborate introduction to the poem, with fulsome praises for ʿEli b. ʿAmram. The poem itself is found on ENA 2465.8. Related fragments: T-S 13J13.2 is a letter with the same sender and same addressee, likewise in a mix of Arabic and Hebrew, which is a recommendation on behalf of Seʿadya the teacher; Bodl. MS heb. c 28/5 is a legal document drawn up by the same Yehuda b. Avraham, apparently the muqaddam of the town of Ṣahrajt in 1060 CE.
