מכתב. השולח, מהגר חדש בפוסטאט שהגיע מתימן, מתאר את עצמו כ"יונה שכנפיה נגזזו" (שורה 1), וכותב לאחיו באלכסנדריה על מצוקתו כשהוא נאלץ להתקיים על חצי דירהם או רבע דירהם ביום. הוא גם מוסר חדשות משפחתיות: "ובאשר למה שביקשת לדעת על יוסף... כעת יש לו תלויים רבים, וראייתו נחלשה, ואין לו דבר." פלימפססט (כתב על גבי כתב שנמחק).
Princeton Geniza Project description: IB V, 48. Letter. The sender, a newcomer in Fustat from Yemen, describes himself as 'a pigeon whose wings have been clipped' (line 1), writes to his brother in Alexandria concerning his trouble having to live on a half or a quarter dirham a day, and also relating family news. "As for what you wished to know about Yūsuf. . . he now has many dependents, and his vision has weakened, and he has nothing." There is mirror text underneath that matches the text above perfectly. This suggests the letter was folded when the ink was still wet or was folded for many years in the Geniza, causing the ink to transfer.
