מכתב בערבית-יהודית מאת דוד בן-נעים בקהיר אל אחיו משה בן-נעים באלכסנדריה. המכתב מתוארך לט"ו בסיוון [ה]תקפ"ד, הוא שנת 1824 לספירה. דוד שמע ידיעות על מצב קשה ומטריד באלכסנדריה — אשר אינו מוסבר במלואו בגוף המכתב — ועל רקע זה הוא מביע את דאגתו ואת איחוליו לנחמתם של אחיו משה ושל בני הקהילה היהודית במקום. חשיבותו המיוחדת של המכתב היא בכמות ובפירוט של בתי האב והתושבים היהודים באלכסנדריה של שנות העשרים של המאה ה-19, ששמותיהם מוזכרים בדרישות השלום של דוד (החלק התופס את רובו של המכתב): דניאל [לוי מנדולפו?], ישעיה מוצרי, יהונתן די בוטון, אברהם אטורטיל, אברהם ישראל, משה ויאס, יהודה אנריקא, אברהם שחתיה כהן, רחמים חסן, נסים ברזילי, שועא ישראל, דוד בוטון, אברהם סוארס ומשה חסן.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter in Judaeo-Arabic, from David Ben-Na'im in Cairo to his brother Moshe Ben-Na'im in Alexandria. Dated 15 Sivan [5]584 AM which is 1824 CE. David has heard news about a trying situation in Alexandria, which is not fully explained, that leads him to express his concern for the consolation of his brother Moshe and members of the Jewish community. This letter is important for the quantity/specificity of Jewish households and residents in 1820s Alexandria that David names in his salutations (which comprise most of the letter): Daniʾel [Levi Mandolfo?], Yeshʿīya Moṣeri, Yehonatan de Boṭon, Avrahavam Aṭorṭīl, Avraham Yisraʾel, Moshe Viyas, Yehuda Enriqa, Avraham Shaḥatīya Kohen, Raḥamīm Ḥasān, Nissim Barzilī, Shuʿa Yisraʾel, David Boṭon, Avraham Suares, Moshe Ḥasān.
