מסמכי ירושה קראיים על דף כפול. התיעוד מתוארך לסביבות שנת 5505 לבריאת העולם (1744/1745 לספירה). בשורה 21 (דף 1r) מצוין התאריך תשרי 5499 לבריאת העולם כמועד פטירתו של יהודה בן שמואל רופא. מסמך הירושה השני עוסק באותה חקירה משפטית (תפתיש/تفتيش), אך מציין כי חלפו שש שנים מאז מותו של יהודה בן שמואל רופא (דף 1v, שורה 8), ומכאן שהערכת תיארוך סבירה היא בסביבות 5505 לבריאת העולם. המנוח הותיר אחריו שני "יתומים", שמואל ודינה, ואלמנה אנונימית (בתו של אליהו בן מרדכי רופא). הליכי הירושה במסמך הראשון מתמקדים בשני נכסים: דירת קאעה (qāʿa) ברחוב דרב אלחכים, וכן חנות של נחושת (דכאן נחאס — חנות נחשתן). המיופה כוח (וכיל) של היתומים הוא שבתי כהן. המסמך השני עוסק ברכוש המיטלטל שהותיר המנוח, כגון נחושת, בגדים, ונדוניית דינה (שהיא "חסרה כמה פריטים" — נאקץ בעד חואיג). בהמשך מפורט באופן בהיר כיצד בני המשפחה הנותרים בחיים התייצבו בפני בית הדין והקהילה "בבית הכנסת" (ככל הנראה דאר סמחה) כדי להישבע על התורה שלא נטלו מאומה מן הירושה. בין סעיפי השבועה נכללו, למשל, הצהרות כי בני המשפחה "לא קברו זאת באדמה ולא הסתירו זאת בקיר". מסמך הירושה ממשיך בדף 2r ומפרט סכסוך כספי נלווה בין דינה לבין בן דודה מצד אביה, משה בן חסד הלוי, המכונה גם קֻדסי. ייתכן שהדף הכפול הזה היה בעבר חלק מפנקס בית דין רחב יותר, ואולי בהקשר זה נכללת בדף 2v רישומית עיפרון מאוחרת לתיוק/ארכיון: "32-33".

Princeton Geniza Project description: Karaite inheritance documents on a bifiolium. Date: c. 5505 AM (1744/1745 CE). The date Tishrei 5499 AM is given in line 21 (f.1r) as the point in time when Yahuda b. Shemuʾel Rofe died. The second inheritance document deals with the same legal investigation (תפתיש/تفتيش) but specifies that six years have passed since Yahuda b. Shemuʾel Rofe's death (f. 1v, l. 8), thus a feasible dating estimate is circa 5505 AM. The deceased man left two "orphans," Shemuʾel and Dīna, and an unnamed widow (the daughter of Eliyahu b. Mordekhay Rofe). The inheritance proceedings in document 1 center on two properties, a qāʿa apartment on Darb al-Ḥakīm as well as a coppersmith shop (דכאן נחאס). The legal representative (wakīl) of the orphans is Shabbetay Kohen. Document two centers on moveable wealth left by the deceased, such as copper, clothing, and Dīna's dowry (which is "lacking some items" נאקץ בעד חואיג). Document two then goes into lucid details of how surviving members of the family went before a beit din and the community "in the synagogue" (probably Dār Simḥa) to swear on the Torah that they did not take any items from the inheritance. Some of the clauses of their oath state, for example, that the family members did "not bury it in the ground or hide it in a wall." The inheritance document then proceeds on to f.2r detailing a related monetary dispute between Dīna and her paternal cousin Moshe b. Ḥesed Levi aka Qudsī. This bifolium may have once been part of a broader court pinqas and, perhaps relatedly, f.2v includes a later filing/archival note in pencil "32-33." MCD.
