קטע של מכתב בערבית-יהודית. תיארוך: ככל הנראה סוף המאה ה-12 או תחילת המאה ה-13; ניתן כנראה לצמצם את הטווח על בסיס האנשים הנזכרים, ובכללם אל-מֻעַטַ'ם בעל השם האיובי. ניתן לשייך את התיארוך גם לתקופה של 1168–1204 לערך, על סמך אזכורו של הרמב"ם ("רבנו משה"). המכתב ממוען לאבו עמראן בן אבו אל-פרג' הכהן. צד הפנים עוסק בעיקר בעסקים, כולל עם "רבנו" ועם אל-שיח' אל-יסוד. נזכרת רכישת חיטה בשווי של 5 דינרים לשנה הקרובה. השולח מודאג ממשהו, בנוסף לאובדן הקודם של הזהב שהושאר אצל הארון. בתחתית הדף ובשוליים מוזכרים אבו אל-מג'ד, מכארם אל-וכיל הגבאי של מתחם ה"מלכיין", צפיי אל-דולה, אבן סבאע, ורצ'יי אל-דולה. בהמשך מוזכר "שטר מקורי" (של מכר?) ועדיו, ובהם אולי אבו נצר בן [...], וכן שטר נוסף (או כתובה?) שנכתב ו/או נחתם בקוץ בידי אבו סעד בן אבו שפה, כרם בן מפצ'ל, ומֻנַג'א אבן אל-מַחַלִּי. השולח צירף "אותו" (כסף?) יחד עם המכתב כדי שיועבר אל "הם", ושאין לשלם כעת אלא רק אם יתעורר צורך ("שכן דבר אינו נצחי מלבד האל"). החלק הבא של המכתב כולל מספר הפצרות לדאוג לשיפוצים הנחוצים בבית, ומזכיר גם אישה שאין לה "לא קרוב, לא מחותן, לא אח ולא ידיד מלבדך וכמותך". בתחתית צד האחור מתבקש הנמען לדבר עם הזקן פח'ר אל-צנאיע (אומן בכיר?) הנמנה עם פמליית (מן ע'למאן) אל-מֻעַטַ'ם. המכתב מזכיר גם: צפיי אל-דולה ("אל-מֻחְתַשִם") ואבו אל-חסן שותפו של השולח; מחסן (אל-מח'זן); שמינית דינר; מכארם אבן אל-אמשאטי ושכר המחסן; העברת משהו לטַארְמַה (תא בסירת נילוס); המילה דבשנא ("חפצינו הקטנים", ראו מ"ע פרידמן בעניין זה); עיסא אבן אל-אג'לח ("קירח בצד אחד של הראש"); אבו אל-ח'יר בן מפצ'ל; אולי רופא (אל-חכים); אדם "ארוך אוזניים" (טויל אל-אד'אן) וערמומי (שאטר); שטר שחרור וייפוי כוח; הבה אל-לבאן וערבונות שונים; זין בן סעיד; העיר קליוב; אלכסנדריה; בקשה שהנמען ייפגש עם הזקן פח'ר אל-צנאיע; רבנו משה (כנראה הרמב"ם); דרישות שלום לאביו של הנמען אבו אל-פרג' בחיר הכהנים; לאבו אל-פח'ר אל-עטאר; אל-שיח' אל-יסוד; אבו עמראן אל-תפארת; אבו אל-פצ'ל; ואבו אל-מכארם. צירוף: אלן אלבאום. שני הקטעים ככל הנראה מתחברים ישירות, אך הדבר טעון בדיקה נוספת; ייתכן שעדיין חסר ביניהם קטע שלישי.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Description from NLI 577.10/1: Letter fragment in Judaeo-Arabic. Dating: Probably late 12th or early 13th century; this range can probably be narrowed based on the people mentioned, including the Ayyubid-sounding al-Muʿaẓẓam. Recto is mainly business dealings, including with "Rabbenu" and al-Shaykh al-Yesod. Mentions purchasing 5 dinars' worth of wheat for the upcoming year. The sender is distressed about something, in addition to his earlier loss of the gold that had been left with Hārūn. At the bottom and in the margin mentions Abū l-Majd, Makārim al-Wakīl the collector for the compound of the מלכיין, Ṣafiyy al-Dawla, Ibn Sibāʿ, and Raḍiyy al-Dawla. Then mentions an "original deed" (of sale?) and its witnesses, possibly including Abū Naṣr b. [...], and another deed (or ketubba?) written and/or signed in Qūṣ by Abū Saʿd b. Abū שפה, Karam b. Mufaḍḍal, and Munajjā Ibn al-Maḥallī. The sender has enclosed "it" (money?) together with the letter to be forwarded to "them," which they should not pay now, but only pay if it becomes necessary ("for nothing is permanent but God"). The next part of the letter includes multiple urgings to take care of the necessary renovations in the house, also mentions a woman who has "no relative, no in-law, no brother, and no friend except for you and like you." At the bottom of verso, the addressee is told to speak to the elder Fakhr al-Ṣanāʾiʿ (a master craftsman?) who belongs to the entourage (min ghilmān) of al-Muʿaẓẓam Description from T-S 8.22: Letter addressed to Abū ʿImrān b. A. Friedman, "Two Studies in Judeo-Arabic in Maimonides' Writings" (2011)); ʿĪsā Ibn al-Ajlaḥ ("bald on one side of the head"); Abū l-Khayr b. Mufaḍḍal; possibly a physician (al-ḥakīm); someone who is 'long of ears' (ṭawīl al-adhān) and clever (shāṭir); a deed of release and a power of attorney; Hiba al-Labbān and various collaterals; Zayn b.
