מכתב בערבית-יהודית הממוען לאישיות המכונה "סיידנא", ככל הנראה הנגיד שמואל בן חנניה. הכותב מדווח כי ביום שישי, כ"ד באדר א', יצא ר' שמריה הכהן אל השוק ושחט שם, וזאת אף לאחר שנדר נדר שלא יהיה לו עוד דבר (?) עם "ענייני היהודים". נראה כי הוא הסיג את גבולו של המֻקדּם הלגיטימי, שייתכן והיה עֻבַּיְד, "המוכר על ידי רוב אנשי עזה". בהמשך מופיעה הערת אגב על כך שאנשי עזה אינם חדי-שכל במיוחד (?), ומוזכרים גם אנשי טבריה. אבו כת'יר אפרים בן משולם הציע לכותב שילך אל האמיר, אשר אמר לו: "פגעת במֻקדּם הממונה עליך" (ארבע שורות מן הסוף). הכהן התגונן אז, אולי בטענה כי לא הפר את נדרו. דורש בחינה נוספת. ככל הנראה קשורים למכתב זה: שלושה מסמכים נוספים מן הגניזה.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter in Judaeo-Arabic to someone addressed as Sayyidnā, likely the Nagid Shemuʾel b. Ḥananya, reporting that on Friday, the 24th of Adar I, R. Shemarya al-Kohen went to the market and slaughtered, even after taking a vow that he would have nothing to do (?) with the 'matters of the Jews.' It seems he was encroaching on the rights of the legitimate muqaddam, who may have been ʿUbayd, 'who is recognized by the majority of the Gazans.' There is then an aside about how the Gazans are not very bright (?), and the Tiberians are also mentioned. Abū Kathīr Efrayim b. Meshullam suggested to the writer that he go to the Amir, who said, "you have infringed on the muqaddam who is in charge of you" (four lines from the bottom). The Kohen then defended himself, perhaps claiming that he did not violate his vow. Needs further examination. Probably related: ENA NS I.81 (PGPID 11334), Moss. VII,210 (PGPID 27096), and/or Bodl.
