רקטו (שימוש משני): פתק בעברית המשולב במספר מילים בערבית-יהודית. השולח מאיץ בנמען לשלוח במהירות את "אלמלגמה". מונח זה מתפרש ככל הנראה במשמעות הארמית "מלוגמא" (משחה, רטייה, תחבושת רפואית, תרופה מרגיעה), שמקורה במילה היוונית μάλαγμα. המונח היווני אומץ גם לערבית בצורת "מלע'מה", אך בתקופה זו ייתכן שהתייחס רק לתערובות לא־רפואיות (גם המילה האנגלית 'amalgam' נגזרת מאותו שורש יווני). בהמשך המכתב דן השולח בהכנת שמן וברכישתו. בסיום הפתק נכתב: "אל תאחר בדברים אלו, כי אינך יודע מה ילד יום (משלי כ"ז, א), ואפילו אם אביך היה בחיים, לא היה אוהב אותך כפי שאני אוהבך. ירבה שלומך".
Princeton Geniza Project description: Recto (secondary use): Note in Hebrew with a few words of Judaeo-Arabic interspersed. The sender urges the addressee to send אלמלגמה quickly. This term may be best understood as the Aramaic "melugma" (emollient, plaster, poultice, soothing remedy), which derives from Greek μάλαγμα. The same Greek term was also adopted as "malghama" into Arabic, but this may have referred only to non-medicinal amalgams in this period (the English word 'amalgam' is also a derivative of μάλαγμα). The sender then discusses the preparation and buying of oil. Ends: "Do not delay these things, for you do not know what the day may bring forth (Proverbs 27:1), and even if your father were alive, he would not love you like I do. May your peace increase."
