מכתב מאיש סמכות בפוסטאט אל ראשי הקהילה בצהרג'ת. בראשו ברכות עבריות מחורזות. השולח כבר שיגר בעבר שני מכתבי הוראות לקהילת צהרג'ת בנוגע לפעולות שיש לנקוט בעניין יורשיו של המנוח הבה. בעקבות זאת הגיעו לפוסטאט בניו של הבה, יעקב וצדקה, יחד עם אמם, והגישו תלונה כנגד אחיהם עלון. מסתבר שעדיין אין בידיהם עדים או מסמכי בית דין שיתמכו בטענותיהם. השולח מורה לנמעניו בצהרג'ת להתכנס ולחקור את העניין לעומקו. אם לא יעלה בידם ליישב את הסכסוך, על עלון לנסוע לפוסטאט יחד עם אחיו (או אחיו), אלא אם יש בידו נימוק טוב להימנע מכך — ובמקרה כזה על הנמענים לשלוח מסמך משפטי חתום בידם המבאר את המצב. בהמשך באות מספר אזהרות חריפות מפני הטיית משפט, ובהן ציטוט מאבות דרבי נתן.

Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from an authority in Fustat to the leaders of the community of Ṣahrajt. Prefaced by rhymed Hebrew blessings. The sender has previously sent two letters of instructions to the community of Ṣahrajt concerning what should be done with the heirs of the late Hiba. Subsequently, Hiba's sons Yaʿaqov and Ṣedaqa along with their mother arrived in Fustat and filed a complaint against their brother ʿAllūn. It seems they do not yet have any witnesses or court deeds to support their case. The sender instructs the addressees in Ṣahrajt to assemble and investigate the matter. If they cannot settle the dispute, ʿAllūn must travel to Fustat with his brother(s), unless he has a good reason not to, in which case the addressees should send a legal document with their signatures explaining the situation. There follow several stern warnings against perverting justice, including a quote from Avot of Rabbi Nathan. ASE
