מכתב ארוך מפקיד ממשלתי אחד למשנהו, בכתב ערבי. בכתובת המכתב מופיע השם אבו אלטאהר, ככל הנראה שמו של הנמען. נראה שהשולח אינו מרוצה מתפקידו הנוכחי: הוא מספר שהעסיק את עצמו בשירות שלא ידע מהותו לפני שנכנס אליו, ומשגילה את טיבו מצא שאינו שווה דבר (...ḥattā annahu ashghala nafsahu fī khidma lam yaʿlam mā hiya qabla yakhdum fīhā fa-lammā kashafahā wajadahā lā shayʾ...). על רקע זה הוא מבקש השתדלות והמלצה כדי לעבור לתפקיד אחר. בנוסף הוא מזכיר שהמשרה הזו דורשת "ג'יד אלח'ט" (כתב יד נאה), יכולת להאזין לאנשים ולקבל מהם בקשות (רֻקעה), ועניין כלשהו הקשור לאישור או אשרור של "תוקיע" (חתימה רשמית). דרוש עיון נוסף.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Long letter from one government official to another. In Arabic script. The name Abū l-Ṭāhir appears in the address (likely the addressee). It seems that the sender is not happy in his current position (...ḥattā annahu ashghala nafsahu fī khidma lam yaʿlam mā hiya qabla yakhdum fīhā fa-lammā kashafahā wajadahā lā shayʾ...) and he is requesting intercession to change positions. He also mentions that this job requires "jayyid al-khaṭṭ" (good handwriting), the ability to listen to people and petitions (ruqʿa), and something related to endorsing "tawqīʿ". Needs further examination.
