מכתב הממוען ליהודה ה"תלמיד", בערבית-יהודית. מתוארך ל-7 בחשוון א'תקנ"א למניין שטרות, הוא 7 באוקטובר 1239. גויטיין מתאר את המכתב כ"מנומס באופן מוגזם". השולח מהלל את הנמען ומבקש ממנו לטפל בענייניה של אמו, שכן אין באפשרותה להישאר בקוץ. השולח מבטיח ליהודה כי יוחזרו לו הוצאותיו, ומציין כי גיוס אדם מיוחד למשימה זו רק יכפיל את העלויות. במכתב נזכרים גם אבו אלפֻתוּח בן אבו אלעִז החזן, אבו אלפרג' אלזִפְתאוי, יוסף ה"תלמיד" ואביו אבו אלח'יר. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter addressed to Yehuda ha-Talmid. In Judaeo-Arabic. Dated: 7 Ḥeshvan 1551 Seleucid = 7 October 1239 CE. Goitein describes the letter as "overpolite." The sender praises the addressee and asks him to see to his mother's affairs, as she cannot stay in Qūṣ. The sender assures Yehuda that he will be recompensed for his expenses, and that working to find someone especially for this task would double the expenses. Abū l-Futūḥ b. Abū l-ʿIzz the cantor, Abū l-Faraj al-Ziftāwī, Yūsuf ha-Talmid, and his father Abū l-Khayr are also mentioned. (Information in part from Goitein’s index cards.) EMS
