מכתב משֵלָה בן מבשר אל הנגיד מבורך בן סעדיה. תיארוך: 1094–1111. שלה מדווח כי הקהילה המקומית שמחה לשמוע שהנגיד ובנו עתידים להצטרף לזקני פוסטאט בחגים הקרבים, והוא עצמו עמד בראש הקהל בתפילת הודיה לאל על כך. הוא מזכיר תלונות ושמועות שהופצו נגדו, ומבקש מהנגיד לפעול נגד שני צבעי משי המטרידים זה שנים את אחיו שאלתיאל ויוסף. האחים עצמם עוסקים בצביעת משי, וזה שנים זוכים ליחס מועדף מצד השלטונות בזכות הנגיד, ונושאים בעצמם באחריויות ציבוריות מסוימות. Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from Shela b. Mevasser to the Nagid Mevorakh b. Saʿadya. Dating: 1094–1111 CE. Shela reports that the local community was happy to hear that the Nagid and his son would be joining the Fustat elders on the upcoming holidays, and he led the community in prayer thanking God for this. He mentions complaints and rumors spread about him. He asks the Nagid to act against two silk dyers who have been troubling his brothers Sheʾaltiʾel and Yosef for years. The brothers are themselves silk dyers who for years have been favored by the authorities on account of the Nagid and who bear some communal responsibilities.(Information from Frenkel and from Cohen, Self-Government, 150, 250, 256 and 268.)
