מכתב מאישה בשם היפאא' בת סלימאן אבן אלעריק אל עלי בן עמרם בפוסטאט. הנמען שימש בשליש השלישי של המאה האחת-עשרה כראש קהילת הירושלמים בפוסטאט. הכותבת מבקשת ממנו שיכתוב ממצרים לדמשק אל בעלה סעיד בן מעמר, אורג המשי, לאחר שנטש אותה פעמיים. גם בני משפחתה זנחו אותה. נולד לה בן מסעיד, והיא מבקשת שיגלה כלפיה רחמים — או לחלופין שישחרר אותה מן הנישואים.
Princeton Geniza Project description: Letter from a woman named Hayfāʾ bt. Sulaymān Ibn al-ʿArīq to ʿEli b. ʿAmram, in Fustat. The addressee was the leader of the Jerusalemite congregation of Fustat during the third quarter of the eleventh century. She asks him to write to Damascus (from Egypt) to her husband Saʿīd b. Muʿammar, the silk weaver, after he had deserted her twice. She was forsaken by her family as well. She had a boy from Saʿīd and she wants his compassion or that he will set her free. (S. D.
